Jagr loses four teeth to high stick — but not his good humor
According to the song, all you should want for Christmas is your two front teeth. The Florida Panthers' Jaromir Jagr needs to double the order.
The veteran forward lost four teeth to a high stick from the Ottawa Senators' Alex Chiasson on Tuesday during the Panthers' 2-1 shootout victory. (See the play here.)
Chiasson said the high stick was inadvertent.
"I obviously didn't mean to hit him," said Chiasson, who was Jagr's teammate three years ago with the Dallas Stars (via NHL.com). "He's a legend in this league, he's been around so long."
And when you've been around as long as Jagr has — in the NHL since 1990 — apparently you can joke about some missing teeth.
"I lost some teeth, but I increased my speed as you see it on the breakaway," Jagr said.
Of course, it did mean Jagr had to make a last-minute request to Saint Nick:
Dear Santa, can I get a new teeth for Christmas :) it's going to be tough to eat-good -at least I don't get fat :))) pic.twitter.com/mifGcolCdP
