The NHL’s career coaching wins list is a bunch of guys three-quarters of the way up the mountain with Scotty Bowman staring down from the top.

On Sunday, one of those guys – the Blackhawks’ Joel Quenneville – hit a milestone that left him at 800 career wins but still 444 short of Hall of Famer and Blackhawks senior advisor Bowman.

Quenneville is second all time in wins with an 800-464-77-113 record, 18 wins ahead of third-place Al Arbour. Quenneville hit the mark as the Blackhawks took a 6-0 second-period lead before beating the Bruins 6-4 in Chicago.

Quenneville, 57, spent his first eight years with the Blues, then went to the Avalanche for three years before spending the past eight seasons with the Blackhawks. He has coached Chicago to three Stanley Cup championships – in 2010, 2013 and 2015 – and has the Blackhawks third in the Western Conference this season with the playoffs starting April 13.

Bowman, 82, coached 30 NHL seasons, racking up nine Stanley Cup titles.
