Kane needs to step up

The Chicago Blackhawks' most prolific, talented scorer is Patrick Kane, and it's not even close, but the Chicago Blackhawks' most prolific, talented scorer doesn't have a single point in the Stanley Cup Final.

That's a problem. And if the Blackhawks want to win their third Stanley Cup since 2010, Kane needs to get that fire in his belly.

Interestingly enough, in the 2010 Stanley Cup Final, Kane went pointless in the first two games of the series. He then went on to score three goals and five assists in the final four games. He also scored the Cup-winning goal against the Philadelphia Flyers.

But that's not the only time Kane has started off cold in a Final. Just two years ago, Kane had one assist through the first three games of the Stanley Cup Final against Boston. Kane would then go on to score three goals and an assist in three games, and earned himself the Conn Smythe Trophy.

Kane could quite easily start producing again for the remainder of the series, and fortunately for Blackhawks fans, he seems to know what he could improve on.

"I could probably do a better job of trying to create and get some speed going through the neutral zone," Kane said. "That seems like that's where we have our most success and trying to play on their end for the most part."

"We’ll take it upon ourselves to be better in that area and try to produce. That’s what we’re here to do -- obviously when you’re not getting it done, you’re not doing your job out there. I’ll take responsibility for that. I think at this point in time, whether you’re producing or not, you can look in the mirror and ask yourself if you can be better or not.”

Kane isn't the only Blackhawk that's struggling early on in the series. Jonathan Toews has just one assist during the series. Marian Hossa has three assist, but has yet to find the net and missed a wide open opportunity in Game 3.

Down just 2-1 in the series, the Blackhawks have time to regroup and figure out how to solve the puzzle in front of them.
