While Jonathan Bernier is back with the Toronto Maple Leafs following a conditioning stint in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, coach Mike Babcock said goaltender James Reimer's status is still tenuous for the Leafs as he continues to battle a groin injury.
Reimer has not played since Dec. 3. He suffered the injury in November and appears to have returned too soon, as Babcock's update to reporters on Reimer's status Monday was less than promising.
Via the Toronto Sun:
Bernier is searching for his first win of the season after starting the year 0-8-1. Reimer had grabbed the starting job from Bernier with a string of strong starts while Bernier was out with an injury at the beginning of November, and it appears Bernier now has the chance to steal the starting job back should he play well.
Every time we have anything with a groin, I tell you it's 10 days. I don't know when we'll see him.
