Military hazmat robot drops first puck to honor Veterans Day
Paying tribute to our troops is nothing new in sports. This past weekend, plenty of NFL teams donned fatigue-themed gear with Veterans Day approaching.
But Wednesday was Veterans Day, and the Anaheim Ducks wanted to make sure they did something memorable.
Troops rappelling from the Honda Center rafters? Check.
Team mascot Wild Wing in a fatigue sweater and carrying a giant American Flag? Double-check.
Military hazmat / weapon-carrying robot dropping the first puck? Che … wait, what?
Ryan Getzlaf (left) and Jordan Eberle have taken plenty of faceoffs in their days, but this probably tops any puck-drop they’ve had with a referee.
Yes, the franchise once owned by Disney and named after a movie pulled out all the stops on Wednesday night, welcoming a TALON hazmat robot, flanked by service members -- two of them dressed in hazmat suits.

Too bad it can’t actually play hockey … the Ducks could have used it Wednesday night (they lost to the Oilers 4-3 in overtime).
