Minnesota governor dons Coyotes jersey after losing three-sport wager
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton made good on his word Wednesday when he publicly donned an Arizona Coyotes jersey.
Dayton had a friendly wager with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey after the states' respective professional football, hockey and basketball teams met in a span of four days earlier this month. Ducey recorded a clean sweep as the Arizona Cardinals posted a 23-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 10, the Coyotes skated to a 2-1 triumph over the Wild the following day and the Phoenix Suns secured a 108-101 win over the Timberwolves on Dec. 13.

"One game does not a season make. Last year we got from the Coyotes the goalie, the franchise saver for the state of Minnesota, the Wild’s Devan Dubnyk. So I am sending this jersey to the Governor of Arizona to remind him every day, and through the playoffs, and when we're hoisting the Stanley Cup, just who came out ahead in this transaction."
With that, Dayton showed his loyalty by putting Dubnyk's Wild jersey on top of his Arizona sweater.
Signed to a six-year, $26 million deal in the summer, Dubnyk posted a 27-9-2 mark with five shutouts, a 1.78 goals-against average and .936 save percentage in 39 games with Minnesota last season. The 29-year-old Saskatchewan native was acquired from Arizona on Jan. 14 for a third-round pick.
