Montreal Canadiens name Max Pacioretty captain
The Habs have a brand-new captain at the helm.
Max Pacioretty was voted by the players as the 29th captain in team history. He will be the third American captain of the Montreal Canadiens in team history, behind Chris Chelios and Brian Gionta.
The Montreal Canadiens went without a captain for the 2014-15 season.

The 26-year-old forward is entering his eighth season with the Canadiens this year. Pacioretty finished with 37 goals last season, good for fifth in the NHL.
According to 24CH, a "Hard Knocks"-like documentary that follows the Canadiens throughout the season, Pacioretty is taking French lessons to better acclimate with the French-dominate Montreal media.
In addition to naming Pacioretty as team captain, Montreal also named Andrei Markov, P.K. Subban, Tomas Plekanec and Brendan Gallagher as assistant captains.
