The Nashville Predators Have Signed 2014 Draft Selection Joonas Lyytinen to a Two-Year Entry Level Contract.
The Nashville Predators announced on Monday the signing of defensive prospect Joonas Lyytinen to a two-year entry-level contract. Lyytinen who was drafted 132nd overall in 2014 has spent his career so far playing at home in Finland.

Lyytinen's career started way back in 2009-10 when he played for the KalPa U16 team all the way until the end of the 2010-11 season when he would go on to join the U18 team. He'd play there for the next season and a half before joining the U20 squad in 2011-12 and would play there for the next two seasons. In 2014-15, Joonas became a regular with the KalPa professional club where he put up 17 points in 52 games during his first season.
He also registered 34 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of plus 10. In 2015-16, he'd once again spend 47 games with the KalPa pro team this time though only registering seven points with 22 penalty minutes and a minus-two rating. However, last season is when he really stood out. Lyytinen played 54 games with KalPa once again but this time setting career highs in assists (16) and points (24) with 34 penalty minutes and a plus-one rating.
Joonas is expected to join Karpat of the Finnish Elite League next year but could always stay in North America and play for the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL. Lyytinen also played in the 2014-15 World Junior Championships putting up one point in five games. He didn't win a medal that year but in 2015-16 he would go on to win a Jr. A Bronze Medal in the SM-Liiga and a Silver Medal in the normal SM-Liiga last season. He's a pretty solid prospect, however, he does need to add weight in order to thrive in North America since he only weighs about 160 pounds.
