The calendars have officially switched to September and hockey season is not too far away now. That much was evident Monday when a handful of Bruins hit the ice for the first informal skate of the season.
Among the faces on the ice were Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, Zdeno Chara, Dennis Seidenberg, Tuukka Rask and upcoming star David Pastrnak. A number of the team's new additions joined in as well, including Matt Beleskey, Zac Rinaldo and rookie Noel Acciari.
"It’s nice to see the new faces coming in early, settling down and making sure that they kind of start to fit in," Chara told BostonBruins.com. "Obviously, we try to help them as much as we can to make that transition easier for them. But like I said, it’s going to be even nicer to see more guys being back and kind of feeling it again, and get some time to bond and kind of start the season on the right note."
Acciari, a 23-year-old forward from Johnston, RI, previously played for Providence College and led the Friars to a national championship in April. He signed an entry-level deal with the Bruins in June.
The team's website said the group of Bruins worked out for about 80 minutes Monday with captain Chara and alternate captain Bergeron leading the way.
