New Jersey Acquires Defenseman Mirco Mueller from Sharks

New Jersey Devils Have Acquired Defenseman Mirco Mueller and a Fifth Round Draft Pick in 2017 for Second and Fourth Round Picks in 2017 from San Jose.

Saturday has been a superb day around the NHL with a ton of stuff happening as teams are gearing up for the expansion draft. And New Jersey Devils wanted in on the fun as they went out and acquired defenseman Mirco Mueller and a fifth round draft pick for their second round selection and fourth round selection in the 2017 draft.

    The 22-year-old defenseman has played his entire career in the Sharks organization. He was originally a first-round draft choice in 2013 and has played a lot between San Jose and Worcester/San Jose.

    In 2016-17 Mueller played in four NHL games for the Sharks scoring one goal and one assist. Down with the Barracuda he played 62 games putting up two goals and 18 assists with five more assists in 15 Calder Cup Playoff games.

    Mirco has played a total of 54 NHL games putting up six points, two of which were goals he also tallied up 17 penalty minutes. And in 124 career AHL games Mueller has notched 34 points, 63 penalty minutes with a plus-minus rating of minus-three.

    He started his hockey career back home in Switzerland playing in Kloten for the junior and adult leagues. Then in 2012-13 he made his jump to North America and played two seasons in the WHL for Everett where he put up 58 points in 123 games.
