New York Islanders Daily: Difficult Roster Decesions
A look around the web at the most recent New York Islanders news. Make Eyes On Isles your go to website for all things Islanders.
With the addition of Dennis Seidenberg the New York Islanders are going to have some difficult roster decisions ahead of them. Brian Erni had his take on the decision to sign Seidenberg.
It certainly adds depth to the Isles d-group. It’s an insurance blanket if Johnny Boychuk continues to be banged up and or if Ryan Pulock regresses. He’s also a better version of Marek Zidlicky/Brian Strait for that 7th d-man role.
Although this time is a bit different, the Islanders already have a crowded group of player on one-way contracts and there are limited roster spots available. In order to make room for Seidenberg to they try to get J.F. Berube to clear waivers?
If they do that, and Berube gets claimed that would leave Christopher Gibson as the backup if anything happened to Jaroslav Halak or Thomas Greiss.
Would you be comfortable with that? Garth Snow has some tough decisions to make before the season starts.

Tavares had an outstanding tournament, Halak even better. They got way more out of WCOH than camp/preseason could have provided. #isles
