New York Islanders Nick Leddy Out Early With Injury
The New York Islanders have called up a defensive prospect from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers to fill a void on their blue line due to an injury.
New York Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy is out with injury , in comes Ryan Pulock from the Isles AHL affiliate, Bridgeport Sound Tigers. What type of injury and the severity of the injury is still a big question mark.
The team has come out to confirm that Nick Leddy has an upper body injury and will be day-to-day for the time being.
Big deal, little deal, no deal; will all depend on the type of injury? Dislocated shoulder or something of similar magnitude? Big deal. Like cap locks, exclamation marks galore big deal. Nick Leddy is the Islanders quarterback.
He the Islanders go-to guy to move the puck out of the defensive end and into the attacking zone. He plays long, tough minutes against quality opposition night in and night out. Losing him to a long term injury would have significant repercussion on the season.
If it’s because of the flu. No deal. Ryan Pulock is a capable defender and has many of the qualities that make Nick Leddy so valuable to the team. Over a small sample size, such as a handful of games, Pulock can sprinkle his brand of hockey onto the team.
Pulock isn’t a 1:1 replacement for Leddy. He won’t see the same type of minutes or even the same level of opposition that Leddy would. But in a second to third pairing role Pulock can be very effective for the Islanders.
Islanders fans wait with baited breath to find out what exactly is going on with Nick Leddy. How long he stays out will have a big say in how our season just might turn out, unfortunately.
