With the holidays approaching and the playoffs looming farther and farther out of reach for the New York Islanders, this writer put together a little Christmas list ditty sung to the 12 Days of Christmas.

On the first day of Christmas, the Isles should give to us: a true winger for Tavares.

On the second day of Christmas, the Isles should give to us: two D on the power play and a true winger for Tavares.

On the third day of Christmas, the Isles should give to us: three strong periods a game, two D on the power play, and a true winger for Tavares.

On the fourth day of Christmas, the Isles should give to us: four consistent lines, three strong periods a game, two D on the power play, and a true winger for Tavares.

On the fifth day of Christmas, the Isles should give to us: SNOW AND CAPPY’S PINK SLIPS, four consistent lines, three strong periods a game, two D on the power play, and a true winger for Tavares.
