After the New York Rangers held a 2-0 lead through the first two periods, the New York Islanders would come back with a flurry in the third period. However, after the Islanders tied the game, the Rangers would take it back.

Following the two goals by the Islanders, the Rangers would go on to score three unanswered. Brock Nelson would score a goal late to make it a 5-3 game, but the Rangers certainly had control at that point.

Three Stars:

Chris Kreider, Rangers – The first star of the game was certainly Rangers forward Chris Kreider. When the game was tied, Kreider provided the go-ahead goal for the Rangers. In addition to the goal, Kreider had an assist in the game as well.

Brandon Pirri, Rangers – The second star of the game for the Rangers was Brandon Pirri. After the goal by Kreider, Pirri iced the game with a power-play goal, which was assisted by Kreider

Casey Cizikas, Islanders – Even though the Islanders lost, Casey Cizikas played a very good game. Cizikas set up the Islanders on two of their three goals, and his pass to Nick Leddy on the first goal was a beauty.

Highlights:

Next up for the Islanders will be another tough test on the road against the Washington Capitals. For the Rangers, they will be on the road as well against the St. Louis Blues.
