A number of teams were in action on Saturday. Among the winners: Philadelphia picked up two points at home in a 3-1 win versus the Chicago Blackhawks. Mike Condon collected another shutout in Ottawa‘s 2-0 win vs. Florida. Pittsburgh edged the Red Wings at home in a high scoring 5-3 finish. The Canucks got some revenge on the Maple Leafs with a 3-2 win. Kari Lehtonen had a strong showing in Dallas‘ 3-0 win over Colorado.

Preds Claim Boucher Off Waivers
It was fairly minor news to come over the wire on Saturday, but it seems the Nashville Predators have claimed 23-year-old Reid Boucher off waivers from the New Jersey Devils. A highly touted Devils prospect, this could be a sneaky good pickup for the Preds. Only problem; if they have to put him back on waivers, someone else is likely to snatch him up. [NHL.com]

Kenny MacMillan over at A Winning Habit is making a pretty bold set of predictions. He proclaims the Habs will have quite the sweep over NHL Awards. He’s got Carey Price taking home nearly twice the hardware of 2014-15, Shea Weber winning the Norris, and most painful of all, a possible Stanley Cup championship. [A Winning Habit]

NHL Daily Morning Rant
Regarding Mr. MacMillan’s bold predictions for the Habs, I’m going to have to respectfully disagree. Kenny is a great writer over at A Winning Habit, constantly producing solid content.
Unfortunately, when you’ve been blessed as the most winning franchise, it tends to create this false hope year in and year out. Take all the cracks you want at Leafs fans, but at least they’re realists. We might have 16 teams that earn a playoff spot come April, but how many of those teams are ever considered true contenders? Maybe half at most if we’re lucky. Yet, for some reason, Montreal fans think if they’ve earned a postseason berth, they’re automatically included in that group. A little advice Habs fans; you can save yourself a lot of stress, pain, and heartache with a bit of sensibility from time-to-time.
Carey Price might indeed have a shot at numerous awards such as the Vezina, Hart, or Ted Lindsay award. No disrespect to Shea Weber, but a Norris Trophy is unlikely. It’s difficult to imagine him sustaining this type of play over the course of 82 games. Heck, his production has already slowed down significantly.
