It appears all sports worlds are coverging on Los Angeles.

On the heels of the Rams' NFL return to Southern California (and the Chargers possibly following suit), and Los Angeles' bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics, the NHL announced that the Kings and the Staples Center will host the 2017 NHL All-Star Game next January.

The league made the announcement Saturday from Nashville, the site of 2016's All-Star Game.

Next year honors a special designation for both for the Los Angeles Kings and the NHL at large, as 2017 marks the Kings' 50th anniversary and the NHL's 100th.

"We are thrilled that the Kings and Staples Center will host such a fantastic event in 2017 and the weekend will be one of the true highlights of our 50th Anniversary season," Kings alternate governor Dan Beckerman said in a statement.

The All-Star Game is the anchor to NHL's All-Star Weekend, which will take place Jan. 28-29, 2017.
