NHL Trade Rumors: Words From Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman, the Arizona Coyotes Want to Get it Right, Jarome Iginla Wants Out and Other Trade Whispers.

Once the most recent serious NHL trade rumors arise, I promise my best for you all, but right now it’s been really slow. No one is budging it seems teams want to make moves but cannot agree on terms whatsoever!

Only somewhat interesting activity within NHL was the Avalanche claimed Mark Barberio from Montreal, placed Eric Gelinas on waivers. Sabres placed Cal O’Reilly on waivers and the Devils placed Luke Gazdic on waivers.

A Word From Hawks’ GM Stan Bowman

After expressing interest in veteran forward Martin Hanzal and looking for forward depth. Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman stated in a press conference due to bad experiences with rental players last season he will not be making any moves at the trade deadline.

Although the Blackhawks did add players last season, seeing them walk after seven playoff games leaves a bad taste in GM Bowman’s mouth. Is it detrimental for the Hawks to make no moves at the deadline?

With an aging core, a mix of young players and lacking depth, the Hawks would either have to overspend or reach out for a rental player. Supposedly GM Bowman wants to steer clear of all rental players or making any moves at the deadline. So count the Blackhawks out of trade talks for this deadline.

Head to Arizona

Arizona Coyotes have had a poor season this year, after making a few offseason signings, plus Anthony Duclair and Max Domi seeing more minutes early in the year. Not much has gone right for the Coyotes this season.

The Coyotes have opened the trade talk with Hanzal and Radim Vrbata but another player that comes to mind is goalie Mike Smith. Smith becomes a restricted free agent come 2019-2020. But it has been reported that Smith has no intent of waiving his no-move clause this season.

Interesting, as Smith was selected to the All-Star game and having a rather good season for being on a bad team. One would expect Smith would want to leave Arizona and land somewhere where he may have more of a future.

That is not the case. Smith believes in the future of Arizona and wants to remain the #1 goalie in Arizona for many years.

    Iginla Wants Out

Retirement is nearing in for the 39-year-old forward Jarome Iginla. Iginla has played with four NHL clubs throughout his 21-year tenure in the NHL. Playing in 1,522 career games, Iginla’s career was a successful one. Grabbing 1,285 points, 617 goals and 668 assists is quite remarkable.

But the 39-year-old knows his time is dwindling down and he wants one more serious run at the Stanley Cup. Iginla has openly said numerous times over the last two weeks that he wants out. Therefore, Iginla wants to be moved at the deadline and moved to a playoff contending team.

The only thing that remains is whether Colorado will move the forward to a playoff contending team before the deadline.
