NHLPA files grievance for Mike Richards

Published Aug. 10, 2015 12:51 p.m. ET

The NHL Players Association has filed a grievance for free agent forward Mike Richards.

Richards contract with the Los Angeles Kings was terminated in June, citing a material breach in the contract requirements.

Richards played in 53 games for the Kings last season, scoring five goals and 11 assists. Richards was also spent 15 games in the AHL with the Manchester Monarchs after being transferred there in January.

Richards had reportedly been investigated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but no charges have been filed.

Details about when the grievance will be heard have yet to be determined.
