Much has been written over the past several months about Alex Ovechkin's growth this year under Barry Trotz in Trotz's first year as the Capitals' coach. And this past weekend, there was one more log added to the maturity/leadership fire.

After Russia's embarrassing 6-1 loss to Canada in the IIHF World Championships gold-medal game, Russia caused some controversy by leaving the ice during the celebration rather than waiting for the playing of the Canadian anthem, as is customary for the losing team. The IIHF stated afterward that they will be speaking with the leaders of the Russian Federation regarding the incident.

But according to TSN's Darren Dreger, not everyone wanted to bail. Dreger tweeted out the following as the postgame events unfolded:

His teammates may not have listened, but this just serves as further evidence that there should be few questions remaining about Ovechkin's maturity at this stage in his career.
