Center Jonathan Huberdeau signed a two-year contract with the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
Financial terms were not disclosed by the team, but TSN's Bob McKenzie reported that the 2013 Calder Trophy winner's deal was worth $6.5 million.
"Jonathan is a skilled and dynamic young player who will play an important role on our team for the future," general manager Dale Tallon said in a statement. "We want the best players and the best team. It's really starting to come together."
Selected third overall in the 2011 draft, Huberdeau recorded career highs in goals (15), assists (39), points (54), plus/minus rating (plus-10) and shots (169) in 79 games last season for the Panthers.
With Florida vying for the final playoff berth down the stretch, the 22-year-old Quebec native put his best foot forward by scoring four goals and setting up seven others in his final 10 contests.
Huberdeau has collected 38 goals and 75 assists in 196 career games.
