Penguins' Dumoulin at home on both the ice and in kitchen
Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin offered plenty of food for thought when he divulged the identity of which person he would be if he could spend one day in another's shoes.
Perhaps Dumoulin chose captain Sidney Crosby, who has long been the face of the league. Then again, maybe the 24-year-old Maine native selected franchise icon Mario Lemieux ... or even the legendary Wayne Gretzky for that matter.
“If I could be anyone in the world, I’d be Anthony Bourdain. He’s like my idol,” Dumoulin told the team's website. "My favorite TV show is 'The Layover.' I love seeing where he travels."
For those unfamiliar with Bourdain, he is a 59-year-old chef, author and television personality. Bourdain's appeared on four different television shows and also put pen to paper to produce a few New York Times best-selling books that deal with both food and travel.
Dumoulin's passion - other than hockey - can be found in the kitchen, where he honed his skills while attending Boston College. While Dumoulin has plenty of meals on his menu, he admitted to the team's website that he has been making a sea bass cooked in a miso glaze on numerous occasions.
Signed to a two-year, $1.6 million extension in the summer, Dumoulin has earned rave reviews with his defense this season. He has notched three assists and owns a plus-1 rating in 24 games in 2015-16.
