Penguins' Dupuis cleared to play following health scare
Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Johnston confirmed on Wednesday what veteran forward Pascal Dupuis declared just under a day ago.
"Dupuis will be playing tonight (against the Montreal Canadiens). He's back. Everything is fine," Johnston told the team's website on Wednesday morning.
Dupuis has passed numerous tests after being taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons on Friday following symptoms that might have been related to his history of blood clots. Dupuis was hampered by a blood clot in his lung last season, causing him to miss 66 contests.
The Penguins were awaiting the results of the most recent tests before declaring that the 36-year-old was cleared to play versus the Canadiens.
Dupuis, who declared he would play on Tuesday, resumed his spot on the top line with captain Sidney Crosby and Beau Bennett during Wednesday's morning skate.
Dupuis, who has one goal in six games this season, recorded 189 tallies and 217 assists in 859 career contests with the Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers, Winnipeg Jets and Penguins.
