Penguins' Fleury accidentally cut by teammate, finishes win over Canadiens
Sure, goaltenders have plenty of pads and even a mask to boot, but the equipment doesn't always protect them from injury.
Marc-Andre Fleury discovered this the hard way on Wednesday, as the Pittsburgh Penguins netminder needed repairs under his left eye after he was inadvertently cut by the stick of teammate Ben Lovejoy.
Fleury briefly was replaced by backup Jeff Zatkoff before returning to the contest, with a trickle of blood finding its way down his left cheek.
"It's good to be part of the team with the stitches," Fleury joked with reporters after the Penguins posted their seventh win in eight outings with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Montreal Canadiens.
Fleury is now back in the #Pens net. Gives Zatkoff a little glove-to-glove fist pound. Thanks buddddy.
