Penguins GM: 'No concern' on Crosby's slow start to season
Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford has heard it ad nauseam.
"What's wrong with Sidney Crosby?", or some variation of that question, echoes in his ears from countless reporters following each of the team's contests this season.
"I know why it's a story, so I'm not saying it's a non-story," Rutherford told Yahoo! Sports. "But there's certainly no concern."
Rutherford cited playing solid teams with hot goaltenders while getting adjusted to new teammates and line combinations for Crosby's slow start.
Others also have speculated on the two-time Hart Trophy winner's troubles, with assistant Rick Tocchet telling TSN's Frank Seravalli that Crosby needs to be "a little more selfish" and shoot the puck.
Crosby has struggled to get untracked this season, collecting just seven points (two goals, five assists) in 14 games.
The two-time scoring champ appears to be getting it back in gear, scoring in a 3-2 triumph over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday before adding an assist two nights later in a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
