Pick your poison: Who's more hated across Minnesota?
If you’re a Minnesota sports fan who enjoys letting out a nice boo every once in a while, this week has likely left you out of breath and boo in the face, (see what I did there?) The Wild’s impressive playoff run, coupled with the Vikings’ offseason drama regarding Adrian Peterson trade rumors have apparently provided ample opportunity for a couple of individuals to turn an entire state’s fan base against them. But who’s worse?
Steve Ott has taken on the role of ‘agitator’ for the Blues, and it seems as though he has lost the plot in more ways than one. This was epitomized through his game 3 antics on Monday, when Ott and the Blues trailed the Wild by three goals late in the third period. Following a clearance, Ott crosschecked Wild defenseman Marco Scandella to the ice, and proceeded to tackle Jared Spurgeon who had come over to help, earning Ott his second 10-minute game misconduct of the series.
Then there’s Ben Dogra, the agent of disgruntled Vikings’ All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson. Dogra has been the lead antagonist in the feud between Peterson and team ownership, contesting that, “I don’t think it’s in Adrian’s best interest to play in Minnesota” according to a report by Marino Eccher of the Pioneer Press. To further Minnesota’s frustration, Dogra prolonged the trolling of the franchise by posting a photo on his Facebook page depicting him sitting in a chair draped with Adrian Peterson’s jersey, while wearing a Tampa Bay Buccaneers hat, and holding a Jerry Rice signed football with a caption simply reading, “Game on.”
Make what you want of that, but one thing is for certain; there are a lot of people to be angry with as a Minnesota sports fan, but winning cures all, and we’re hopeful that the results will be able to do our talking for us.
