Red Wings' Devellano donates seven Stanley Cup rings to Hockey Hall of Fame
Jimmy Devellano certainly was in a giving mood recently as the Detroit Red Wings senior vice president elected to donate his seven Stanley Cup rings to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Devellano, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010, received four of his rings with the Detroit Red Wings (1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008) and three with the New York Islanders (1980-82). As for his reasoning to part ways with the jewelry, the Toronto native focused on the future as his primary reason.

Devellano, who was the first individual hired by Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch in June 1982, is also general manager of Major League Baseball's Detroit Tigers.
Although he just surrendered seven rings, Devellano does have more in his possession. He has been a part of four Calder Cup championships in the American Hockey League, two titles in the Central Hockey League and one in the East Coast Hockey League. In addition, the Tigers have two championships under his watch.

"I'm 73 years old (next month). I have no heirs, I have no family. What happens when I go? Who gets the rings? I thought it would be nice to donate them to the Hall of Fame to display them."
