Updated Mar. 4, 2020 12:21 p.m. ET

BOSTON (AP) Referee Dean Morton had to be helped off the ice in the second period of the Boston-New York game after taking a puck off the back of the head on a clearing shot from Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein.

Klein shot the puck from the side of his team's net into the corner, where it hit Morton.

Morton immediately went down to the ice before getting on his knees. A Bruins trainer rushed out and Klein was helped off under his own power down a runway near Boston's bench.

New York led 3-1.
