Report: Capitals goaltender Peters undergoes knee surgery
The Washington Capitals have announced that goaltender Justin Peters underwent successful knee surgery on his left knee on Monday.
The report further states that Peters is expected to be ready to play by the start of training camp.
Peter's, who was signed by the Capitals in July of 2014 to a two-year, $1.9 million contract, recorded a .881 save percentage and 3.25 goals against average in just 12 games this year. It was his second-lowest save percentage of his career, which was previously spent with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Peters was replaced by Philipp Grubauer during the Capitals playoff run this season. The Capitals have yet to officially determine who will back up goalie Braden Holtby, but it is believed to be between both Grubauer and Peters.
