St. Louis Blues Morning Links: Big Game Hunters

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Good morning Blues fans! It’s time for another game day, another game on the road and more trepidation of how the night will play out. The team is looking for revenge in Music City.

The St. Louis Blues are back at it tonight. They are trying to get their revenge on the Nashville Predators as well.

Sure, there was a 3-1 win for the Blues at Scottrade Center not long ago, but St. Louis is still trying to get on solid footing on the road. St. Louis lost 3-1 in Nashville back on November 10 and just fell 3-1 to Minnesota in their last game.

It is going to be a good test for the Blues and no easy feat to get a win on the road. The Predators always play the Blues tough no matter how good or bad either team has been.

Nashville is going through their own struggles. If not for their home record, they might be in the tank instead of in the playoff hunt.

The Predators have lost their last two games and are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games. Other than their place in the standings, they are quite similar to the Blues.

They have a great home record and not on the road. They have scored as many goals as they have let in. In fact the Blues only have one more goal for/against.

So, it is a battle of wills coming up. These teams are notorious for having hard fought, tight battles and tonight may be no different.

The Blues have proven their struggles on the road are going to be no easy task to overcome. They had that bright spot in New Jersey, but that appears more the aberration rather than the rule.

Nashville has been close to unbeatable at home. Like the Blues, as bad as they have been on the road is how good they have been in Music City.

None of that seems to spell out a good result for the Blues tonight. But as the old saying goes, that’s why they play the games.

Here are your St. Louis Blues Morning Links to get your day started right.

Speaking of ways these two teams are similar, the injury report is one of them. The Blues still have a couple defenders on the shelf and are unlikely to see any returns. The Predators, on the other hand, might get some reinforcements. (Fox Sports)

Fans usually hate to hear about line changes.  It’s all considered tampering and overcoaching.  The current one might be a bit iffy since Jaden Schwartz will be at center, but fans are getting exactly what they have been clamoring for for weeks.  (Post-Dispatch)

In case you missed it, the Blues are a prime example of a team keeping things simple when they are playing at their best.  Conversely, when they are not playing well, they have a habit of making the simplest things way too complicated.  (Bleedin’ Blue)

The position of goaltender might be one of the most important in all sports.  There are probably more cases of that single position winning a championship than any other.  That said, sometimes the most obscure person has to suit up.  The NHL compiled some of the most interesting stories of players that would never have had a chance to be on an NHL bench otherwise.  (NHL)

Not long ago we posted the link to several St. Louisans and Tage Thompson getting the chance to earn a spot on Team USA for the World Junior Championship.  Those players are tasked with bringing the Americans back to a place of prominence.  Just as much in the spotlight are the Canadians who are very salty after finishing sixth in last year’s tournament.  (NHL)

Have a great day Blues fans!
