St. Louis Blues Morning Links: Blues Blue In Brooklyn
Good morning Blues fans! Another game up after another one down and another road loss on the board. Perhaps things will be different today.
Well, we had all hoped the St. Louis Blues would find a way to cure their road woes last night. They were going up against the team with, at the time, the fewest points in the Eastern Conference.
The New York Islanders proved to be much better than their record would indicate. Even so, the Blues just didn’t get the job done for long enough to earn the two points.
In fact, the Blues looked more like a team playing for another overtime as opposed to one that wanted to win in regulation. If the game last night had gone to overtime, it would have been the fifth out of six games the Blues saw the extra period.
Right now, the Blues are using up a lot of energy when it is not necessary. The funny thing is that logic goes against reality in that aspect.
If the Blues would put out a consistent effort for 60 minutes, they would probably use less energy than they do in most games. Instead of having to pour their heart and soul into a third period like they did against the Canadiens or use up more energy defending in overtime as they did against the Stars, you get it all done in 60 minutes with a steady game.
This team is quite maddening and has no indication they will stop being just that. Last year, they were one of, if not the best road team in the league. Now, they can’t buy a win away from Scottrade Center.
They have three more chances to turn that sentiment around on this current trip. Tonight, they face a player many fans had hoped would be wearing the Note this season, Taylor Hall.
Hall may not be setting the world on fire, but he’s got eight goals and 19 points and is still a player to watch. The Devils are no slouch either, so they are going to force the Blues to have a great game.
Here are your St. Louis Blues Morning Links to get your day started off right.

As usual, the Blues seem to know exactly what went wrong following the game. It’s frustrating to hear as a fan when it seems like if you know what is going wrong, you could fix it, but it is never that simple. St. Louis seems to have that a little too much, though at least they realize they need better efforts from some of the role guys who were stepping up not too long ago. (Post-Dispatch)
The Blues brought up Brad Hunt from the AHL for protection as Robert Bortuzzo is out and Joel Edmundson is just getting back from injury. Though Hunt leads the AHL in scoring, it remains to be seen if he will crack the Blues lineup. (Arch Authority)
