St. Louis Blues Morning Links: The Wait On Injuries

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Good morning Blues fans! It is the Blues day off as they get ready for their first swing across western Canada.

The St. Louis Blues are off to a heck of a start. They are 3-0 and have looked very solid for most all of the three games.

The part where they did not look so good was after they lost three players to injury against the New York Rangers. Now, the fans wait until news breaks about any roster movement or injury update.

For now, all we know is that Jori Lehtera, Kyle Brodziak and Carl Gunnarsson did not return during Saturday night’s game. Very few pinpointed the spots where the centers got hurt, but Gunnarsson may be the most likely to have suffered a head injury if anyone did.

That is pure conjecture though. There has been no leaked word about anyone.

You would have thought the Blues had suffered enough with injury during the 2016-17 season. Instead, they seem to be starting right where they left off.

So we continue to wait. It should not be too long as these things are usually discussed before morning practices.

The bad thing is the Blues may not have the flexibility for roster movement. If they don’t want to put anyone on injured reserve, the Blues may have to use both Dmitrij Jaskin and Ty Rattie as replacements and configure the lines so that Robby Fabbri, Alexander Steen or both can be centers.

It all feels like one of those child’s games where you have to maneuver the squares around within a frame to complete a picture. It seems simple, but there’s always one piece in the wrong spot.

We’re all keeping our fingers crossed that nobody’s injury is serious. Thankfully, Robert Bortuzzo is an easy plug in.
