Starved for offense, Flyers recall AHL team's point leader in Cousins
Looking to ignite their sputtering offense, the Philadelphia Flyers recalled forward Nick Cousins from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League on Friday.
Cousins has scored five goals and set up 13 others for a team-leading 18 points in 15 games this season with the Phantoms. The 2011 third-round selection, who has 56 points (22 goals, 34 assists) in 64 contests with Lehigh Valley over the last two campaigns, could make his season debut with the Flyers on Friday against the visiting Nashville Predators.
The 22-year-old Cousins failed to record a point in 11 games last season with the Flyers, who are struggling to score in 2015-16. Philadelphia (7-10-5) hasn't netted an even-strength goal in 257 minutes and 58 seconds and is averaging a league-worst 1.73 tallies per contest.
In a corresponding move, Philadelphia sent fellow forward Taylor Leier to the Phantoms. Leier did not notch a point in six contests with the Flyers.
