The Tampa Bay Lightning has been trapped in a real downward spiral as of late. Trouble in just about every category led the Lightning to drop eight of their last 10 games. Thankfully, the Lightning put a stop to the terrible cycle on Wednesday night with a huge 6-3 victory over the red-hot Calgary Flames.
Tonight, the Lightning face an entirely new challenge. The Lightning have found a way to be successful, but have they managed to come up with a plan to remain successful? This question couldn’t possibly be posed at a better time.
The Lightning is headed into Rogers Arena in the heart of Vancouver to do battle with the Vancouver Canucks. Unfortunately, the Lightning didn’t exactly fare well in their first meeting of the season. In fact, the Lightning was trounced 5-1 by the Canucks. The bad news for the Tampa Bay Lightning is, they will be taking the ice without the assistance of four of the team’s major players. Lightning captain Steven Stamkos and alternate captain Ryan Callahan will be joined by Lightning forwards Nikita Kucherov and Ondrej Palat
As most Lightning fans know by now, Nikita Kucherov was ruled out ahead of the Lightning’s battle against the Flames. Ondrej Palat, on the other hand, was shaken up in the second period against the Flames. Palat’s undisclosed injury is more than likely a direct result of this incident.
On the bright side, there are plenty of players at the Lightning’s disposal who are more than ready, willing, and able to step up and help the team whenever they are called upon.
