Tuevo time: Blackhawks announce they will start the rookie in Game 1

Blackhawks’ head coach Joel Quenneville announced that he will be starting rookie winger Tuevo Teravainen in Game 1 against the Wild on Friday.

Teravainen started games one and two of the first round series against the Predators, but was pulled from the lineup after the Hawks suffered a 6-2 trouncing in Game 2.  However, according to a report by Chris Hine of the Centre Daily Times, “Quenneville came back around on the 20-year old, who said he learned a lot from his first playoff action.”

In the Predators series, Teravainen skated on the fourth line alongside Marcus Kruger and Joakim Nordstrom, but with Bryan Bickell moving up to the second line to take the place of the soon-to-be healthy scratch Kris Versteeg, Teravainen will more than likely be promoted to the third line to play alongside Patrick Sharp and Antoine Vermette.

"He's very creative," Vermette said. "Good hands. I thought we played well together at points during the season. He's going to bring an offensive dimension (to the line), for sure” he told Hine.
