Jayson Megna, 26, receives a call-up after tallying three points in four AHL games this year. Megna has played 54 games split between the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins. He likely fills in on the fourth line alongside Brendan Gaunce and Jack Skille.

The much more exciting news though is that Troy Stecher will be making his return to the club. The young defenseman impressed everyone in training camp and there were many fans and media members alike hoping to see the kid stick with the main club to start the year.

Stecher didn’t make the team out of camp but it was well-known that as soon as injuries hit, he would be the first guy to be recalled from Utica. He’s played four games with the Comets this year and has tallied an assist and four penalty minutes with the club.

It’s going to be interesting to see where he fits into the Canucks lineup. With Chris Tanev‘s status uncertain, we could see a scenario where Stecher slots in alongside Alex Edler when the Canucks take on the Ottawa Senators.

That scenario is exactly what Canucks fans wanted to see after the preseason. Stecher and Edler looked to have a great deal of chemistry and it was thought that Stecher could develop under Edler’s wing. Now that scenario could finally be a possibility.

Of course, there is also the chance that the Canucks want to shelter Stecher and he doesn’t play in the top four. However this scenario seems far more likely and far more exciting.

Coming off a two-game losing streak this well come as an excitement boost for Canucks fans. Stecher was easily the fan favourite in preseason and now we get to see what he can do in the regular season. Get excited Canucks fans, StecherMania is about to run wild!
