Watch a hockey player start a brawl inside the penalty box

Punching people in the face is a time-honored tradition in hockey. It's not uncommon to see grown men fight over trivial reasons and then be banished to the penalty box for several minutes to serve their punishment.

What is a bit more uncommon, however, is to see one of those fights actually happen inside the penalty box.

That was the scene provided by a recent ECHL game between the Utah Grizzlies and the Colorado Eagles. After a cross-checking penalty sent Grizzlies player Jon Puskar to the penalty box, Puskar began relentlessly chirping an Eagles player, Michael Sdao, with the box door open.

Sdao took the open door as an invitation to join Puskar in the box and start throwing hands. Fortunately for Puskar, he had a fellow teammate in the box that was able to (sort of) have his back as Sdao attempted to pummel him.

As a result of the incident, Sdao was kicked out of the game, fined and given a three-game suspension by the ECHL.
