Wild players bring out smiles at three area hospitals (PHOTOS)
Fresh off erupting for a season high in goals in their last outing, members of the Minnesota Wild continued to score points when they visited three area hospitals on Wednesday.
Thomas Vanek was just hours removed from collecting a goal and three assists in Minnesota's 6-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks when he joined captain Mikko Koivu, defenseman Nate Prosser and goaltender Niklas Backstrom at Saint Paul Children's Hospital. The quartet was not alone as Matt Dumba admitted he was touched by what he saw when he accompanied fellow defenseman Marco Scandella and forwards Nino Niederreiter and Charlie Coyle to Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare.
Via the team's official website:
Defensemen Ryan Suter, Jared Spurgeon and Jonas Brodin joined forwards Justin Fontaine, Mikael Granlund, Chris Porter and Jason Zucker by lending their time at the University of Minnesota.
Judging by the smiles on the faces of all involved, the Wild netted their biggest victory of the season.

"Just talking to (Scandella) even before we got in here, when you think of hospital, you think of a dark place. Not very many happy things going on with all the surgeries, and sickness that goes along with it. But to just come in here and try to put some smiles on parents', children's faces, it's awesome for them, but it's also rewarding for us as well."
