Wild's Dumba fails to connect in 'Happy Gilmore' imitation
Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba did his best to imitate the golf swing of Adam Sandler in the sports comedy movie "Happy Gilmore".
Unfortunately for the 21-year-old Dumba, the ball never left the tee.
With the 1996 movie apparently fresh in his mind, Dumba elected to copy the aggressive swing of the hockey player-turned-golfer portrayed by Sandler. The defenseman took a few strides to approach the tee before failing to strike the ball on Tuesday at Troy Burne Golf Course in Hudson, Wis.
Dumba had much better luck putting the puck in the net, scoring eight goals in 2014-15 for the Wild. The seventh overall pick of the 2012 draft, Dumba added eight assists in the regular season before scoring two goals and setting up two others in the playoffs.
