Yeo on Wild's woes: 'I'm not going to sit around and say, 'Poor me'
Minnesota Wild coach Mike Yeo has heard the rumors about his job security but insists he's not taking the bait - regardless of what former player Zenon Konopka's bunny has to "say" on social media.
Yeo has seen Minnesota plummet out of a postseason picture after losing six in a row (0-4-2) and 11 of its last 12 (1-9-2). Thursday night's tilt with three-time Hart Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin and the NHL-best Washington Capitals (39-9-4) doesn't exactly scream better days ahead for the sputtering Wild (23-20-10), who reside two points behind the Central Division-rival Colorado Avalanche (27-25-4) for the final playoff spot.
With way West is going, 91 points likely gets into the playoffs.

For #MNWild, that's 35 points needed in final 29 games. A 17-11-1 record.
Still, Yeo maintains he's looking ahead - not behind. Via Minneapolis Star Tribune:
"I'm not going to sit around and say, 'Poor me.' This is not about me, this is about us, all of us together and I've got my job to do. The guys have been doing their job the last couple games and if we keep going that, then we'll be fine."
Minnesota hardly has been "fine" at Xcel Energy Center of late, losing its last six decisions (0-3-3) after posting a 3-1 victory over Detroit on Dec. 28.
Crazy to think #MNWild coach Mike Yeo, 42, is the NHL's third youngest. And yet the league's fifth most tenured.

If one's looking for positives, the Wild have scored a power-play goal in four straight contests and six of the last seven.
Then again, that comes on the heels of failing to convert on 24 consecutive opportunities over an 11-game stretch.
