Fantasy football Week 6 was a lot of fun to watch and win, but these fantasy football busts left their owners hanging with disappointing performances.

It was a fun week of fantasy football in Week 6 if you owned any of our top 15 fantasy football scoring leaders. However, it wasn’t all roses on Sunday for every fantasy owner. Since misery loves company, let’s take a look at the biggest disappointments from a busy Week 6 as we examine the top 10 fantasy football busts of the week.

These players came into the week with solid expectations but ultimately let their owners down due to injury or ineffectiveness. While some have the potential to get things turned around, others should be put on your bench or even dropped moving forward.

Each week in our top 10 fantasy football busts, you can find the most disappointing options at each of the main fantasy positions. You definitely want to avoid using players that end up on this list for your fantasy team.

Make sure to check back later tomorrow for our fantasy football sleepers who emerged during Week 6 if these fantasy football busts have left you looking for replacement options. While some players stepped up Week 6, there were plenty of fantasy football busts this week too. Check out my top ten starting with a WR who was outscored by Jerry Rice, Calvin Johnson, and even Deion Sanders this week.

    Travis Benjamin-WR-San Diego Chargers

The Chargers’ WR were in a bad matchup against the Broncos, so expectations were rightfully a little bit lower. However, Travis Benjamin was so bad he actually finished with negative fantasy points in standard scoring since he mostly impacted the game by losing a fumble on the punt pictured above.

Benjamin was targeted five times and hauled in three catches for 17 yards. His fumble didn’t help his team or his fantasy owners, but he should be set up for a bounce back game next week.

Since Keenan Allen went down Week 1, the other Chargers’ pass-catchers have stepped up and Benjamin has put together some solid games. He’ll be a boom-or-bust option as a flex or WR3 play this week as the Chargers head to Atlanta for what should be an entertaining game with plenty of shootout potential in the Georgia Dome. Benjamin doesn’t dominate the targets enough to be an every-week lock in your lineup at this point, but the is a consideration in good matchups like he’ll have in Week 7.

Sep 25, 2016; Jacksonville, FL, USA; Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler (56) and Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker Telvin Smith (50) tackles Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett (29) in the second half at EverBank Field. Justin Forsett-RB-Detroit Lions

The Lions backfield is a mess. We knew that coming into the week, but some people still had to turn to Justin Forsett as a cheap flier this week. Forsett had only been with the team since early last week, but it looked like he was lined up for a heavy workload Sunday since Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington were both sidelined along with Ameer Abdullah who is on IR.

Forsett struggled in his first game with the Lions, though, and made so little impact that we don’t even have a picture of him with his new team. He did get five carries but only managed five total yards and didn’t catch a pass. He was well behind Zach Zenner in the Lions’ backfield rotation, and Detroit relied on their high-volume passing game rather than feed the ball to anyone in their backfield.

It’ll be interesting to see how Forsett’s role changes going forward as he adjusts to the playbook. He’s still a good fit overall for the offense and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter should find continue to find creative ways to get him involved. I wouldn’t drop Forsett just yet, but he’s not someone to plug into your lineup at this point either.

    Derek Carr-QB-Oakland Raiders

The Raiders got off to a 4-1 start this season and were out in front of the AFC West after Denver lost on Thursday Night Football. However, the offense disappeared in Oakland in the second half of their rain-soaked loss to Kansas City as the team took a tough home loss to their division rival.

Derek Carr was getting some “elite” buzz heading into this game, but he failed to live up to that billing as he struggled his way to just 225 yards on Sunday. He connected with Amari Cooper early but in the second half things appeared stuck in idle possibly partly due to the conditions. Carr threw just one touchdown to go with one interception on Sunday after emteromg the game with 11 scores and just two picks.

In the next two weeks, though, Carr should be set up to bounce back with a pair of matchups in Florida against the Jags and Bucs. Carr will remain a low-end QB1 in those matchups and can be started in almost all formats if you don’t have an elite top-tier option. He’s in our fantasy football busts this week, but I’m still high on Carr moving forward.

Oct 2, 2016; Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Sammie Coates (14) at the line of scrimmage against the Kansas City Chiefs during the third quarter at Heinz Field. The Steelers won 43-14. Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

    Sammie Coates-WR-Pittsburgh Steelers

In case you were wondering, yes–Sammie Coates was active this week for the Steelers as they took on the Dolphins. However, Coates failed to haul in a catch while being targeted four times.

It was a bad day for the Steelers wide receivers across the board as Big Ben struggled, got injured, and then returned to struggle some more. Coates got into our fantasy football busts with his goose egg, but you could also make a case for Antonio Brown (four catches, 39 yards) and tight end Jesse James (two catches, 13 yards) as well.

While Sunday was bad for the Steelers offense, the worst part was that Big Ben will be lost for at least the next game for Pittsburgh as well. The Steelers offense will struggle without him and Coates goes from being a sleeper with a ton of upside to someone who is too high-risk to start unless you’re desperate.

Oct 16, 2016; Chicago, IL, USA; Jacksonville Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon (24) gains yardage against the Chicago Bears during the second half at Soldier Field. The Jaguars won 17-16. Mandatory Credit: Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports

    T.J. Yeldon-RB-Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars rolled into Chicago coming off their bye week and didn’t look good at all. However, they still managed to come awn with a win due to some late heroics and the Bears continued late-game issues.

Before the game, T.J. Yeldon looked to have emerged as the lead back in the timeshare with Chris Ivory, and offensive coordinator Greg Olson said he had “taken ownership” of the no.1 running back role. On Sunday, though, it sure didn’t look like it. He was out-touched by Chris Ivory 13-7 and ended up with only 21 hards on his six carries and five yards on his one catch. While its better than getting nothing, he looked from from the RB2 that was showcased in London back in Week 4.

Both Yeldon and Ivory have battled injuries in the past, but unless one of them misses the game it’s hard to rely on either for fantasy purposes at this point. Yeldon has enough upside in next week’s good matchup against the Raiders to be a flier flex play, but he definitely took a step backward this week and earned his spot on our fantasy football busts of the week.

Oct 2, 2016; Houston, TX, USA; Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker (82) attempts to make a reception as Houston Texans cornerback A.J. Bouye (21) defends during the third quarter at NRG Stadium. The Texans won 27-20. Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

    Delanie Walker-TE-Tennessee Titans

Everything set up perfectly for Delanie Walker to have a monster game on Sunday as the Titans faced the Browns. No team in the NFL was allowing more fantasy points to opposing tight ends than Cleveland was, but Walker had disappointingly quiet game landing him on our fantasy football busts of the week.

Walker was only targeted twice in the Titans win and he hauled in one catch for just 21 yards. In contrast, Walker had been targeted 18 times in his two previous contests. There isn’t much of an explanation for why Walker was left out of the Titans’ attack, so it looks like he just had an outlier of a bad week.

He’ll remain a TE1 this week against the Colts although there is definitely risk that Marcus Mariota is working other targets and moving on from his focus on Walker. I wouldn’t take Walker over the other elite options, but he can definitely still be started in most formats despite this week’s dud.

Oct 9, 2016; Denver, CO, USA; Atlanta Falcons running back Tevin Coleman (26) dives in for a touchdown in the third quarter against the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The Falcons defeated the Broncos 23-16. Mandatory Credit: Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

    Tevin Coleman-RB-Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons played well on the road for the second week in a row and almost pulled off the impressive double of beating the Broncos and Seahawks in Denver and Seattle. Ultimately, Atlanta fell just short, though, and their running backs had predictably bad games against the excellent Seahawks defense.

Coleman has had an up-and-down season so far this year with a few huge fantasy games, and some serious fantasy duds. He ended up on our fantasy football busts this week after getting five carries for ten yards and just seven yard on his one catch of the day.

Sure, it was a bad matchup, but Coleman owners were surely hoping for more after he totaled 163 yards last week in Denver. Moving forward, Coleman and Devonta Freeman will continue to split work in the Atlanta backfield as they look to continue their strong start. In Week 7, Atlanta hosts the Chargers before taking on the Packers in Week 8. Coleman is a boom-or-bust fantasy play on a weekly basis, and he should find much more room to run on Sunday.

Oct 16, 2016; Chicago, IL, USA; Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey (left) is congratulated by wide receiver Allen Robinson (right) after breaking up a pass against the Chicago Bears during the second half at Soldier Field. Jaguars won 17-16. Mandatory Credit: Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports

    Allen Robinson-WR-Jacksonville Jaguars

T.J. Yeldon wasn’t the only Jaguars offensive option that didn’t step up for his fantasy owners this week. In fact, Allen Robinson owners are getting far too used to his name being on our list of fantasy football busts. Robinson went early in drafts almost always as a top-ten receivers, but he has started he season slowly.

This week, Robinson only had three catches for 49 yards although he was targeted six times. He caught two passes for 34 yards in the first four plays of the day and then vanished even against a so-so Bears’ defense.

Robinson had a pair of touchdowns back in Week 3, but he hasn’t been a strong producer outside of that. He has only topped 60 yards receiving in one game this season, and that was all thew ay back in Week 1 when he had 72 yards on six catches. He has only totaled 287 yards this year on 24 catches through five games.

However, he is in an awesome matchup next week as he and the Jaguars host the Raiders. Oakland has been a great matchup for opposing receivers all season long, so keep Robinson in your lineup at least one more week even though he keeps ending up on our fantasy football busts.

Oct 16, 2016; Green Bay, WI, USA; Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson (87) catches a pass during the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field. The Cowboys won 30-16. Mandatory Credit: Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

    Jordy Nelson-WR-Green Bay Packers

The Tiwttersphere is buzzing today with the “What’s wrong with the Packers?” narrative. Green Bay definitely looked off their game yesterday in their loss  to the surging Cowboys and only a late meaningless touchdown kept Aaron Rodgers from his own place in our fantasy football busts.

Instead, we’ll put Jordy Nelson of the Packers on the fantasy football busts list this week since he finished with an underwhelming five catches for 68 yards. His 68 yards didn’t make much of an impact in the game flow, and he didn’t get into the end zone at all for the first time this season. Nelson also lost a fumble in the contest which further erased any fantasy production he had to that point in the contest.

Moving forward, I still like Nelson and the Packers to turn it around, but he definitely let his owners down big-time this week. He and Green Bay only have three days to cure what ails them before they welcome in the Bears on Thursday Night Football. Nelson will still be a top-10 WR play, but he isn’t in the ultra-elite top-tier for now.

Oct 16, 2016; Miami Gardens, FL, USA; Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (7) attempts a pass against the Miami Dolphins during the second half at Hard Rock Stadium. The Miami Dolphins defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 30-15. Mandatory Credit: Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

    Ben Roethlisberger-QB-Pittsburgh Steelers

The biggest letdown of the week was Ben Roethlisberger who struggled throughout the day while playing through an injury. Big Ben and the Steelers looked primed to roll into Miami and crush the struggling Dolphins, but a funny thing happened on their way to another easy win–the Dolphins showed up and beat them down.

Big Ben had thrown for 680 yards and nine touchdowns in the Steelers last two games which were both easy wins over the Chiefs and Jets. However, in this contest he never got going and finished just 19-of-34 for 189 yards. Part of that was due to a knee injury which cost him some time, but he threw two interceptions as well while throwing just one touchdown pass. It was an ugly overall performance from Pittsburgh who have been beaten badly on the road by the Eagles and Dolphins in their last two trips out of the Steel City.

Roethlisberger added injury to his insult by tearing his meniscus and will miss at least next week’s game against the Patriots. His appearance on this week’s fantasy football busts will leave a  mark not only for this week, but it will force his owners to get creative for the next two weeks while Ben recovers from knee surgery.
