2016 Fantasy Football: Ryan Fitzpatrick Week 8 Projection
The 2016 Fantasy Football season is now in Week 8. What will New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick do for fantasy owners against the Cleveland Browns?
It has not been good 2016 fantasy football season for owners of New York Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. After a surprisingly good 2015 season, Fitzpatrick has been a big disappointment.
This season, Fitzpatrick has totaled 1,561 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The turnovers have been a huge problem for Fitzpatrick and were the reason why he was benched for Geno Smith.
Smith made the start against the Baltimore Ravens last week, but he, unfortunately, tore his ACL in the win. With Smith done for the season, it will once again be Fitzpatrick as the starter. The matchup in Week 8 is a golden one for the Jets, as they will be playing the winless Cleveland Browns.
This season, the Browns have allowed the second-most points to quarterbacks. Only the Detroit Lions have allowed more fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, and his is a good thing for Fitzpatrick.
In recent weeks, the Browns have continued to struggle against the pass. Against the Cincinnati Bengals last week, Andy Dalton was able to throw for over 300 passing yards in a 14-point win. The Jets will be attempting to replicate what the Bengals did last week against the poor Browns’ defense.
Even without Eric Decker, the Jets still have weapons for Fitzpatrick to throw the ball to. The chemistry between Fitzpatrick and Marshall hasn’t quite been as good as last season. Sunday against the Browns will present Fitzpatrick with the opportunity to have a good game for his fantasy owners.
Week 8 projection: 275 passing yards and two passing touchdowns.
