6N: Scotland makes one enforced change for Ireland in Dublin

Published Mar. 7, 2018 11:42 a.m. ET

EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) Winger Blair Kinghorn will make his first start for Scotland against Ireland in Six Nations rugby in Dublin on Saturday.

Kinghorn was the only change to the side which beat England 25-13 at Murrayfield two weeks ago, replacing Tommy Seymour who injured his back. Kinghorn made his debut off the bench in that match.

In the reserve back's position vacated by Kinghorn, Glasgow wing Lee Jones moves in.

Also, Fraser Brown, who featured in all but two Scotland tests last year, returns from injury to take Scott Lawson's place as replacement hooker.

There was no place for Richie Gray, despite the Toulouse lock rejoining the squad after shaking off a troublesome calf injury. His brother Jonny Gray remained partnered with Grant Gilchrist.

Flanker John Hardie also missed out after being recalled this week for the first time since being suspended by his Edinburgh club following allegations of cocaine use.

Successive wins over France and England have raised Scotland hopes that it can make a bid for a first title since the 1999 Five Nations.

''Our players prepared very well for the challenge of taking on England and there has been a similar focus and commitment this week,'' coach Gregor Townsend said.

''There are a few areas of our game that we are working to improve and we are aware that we will have to be better if we are to beat a very good Ireland side in Dublin.''
