LOS ANGELES -- USC defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox already has plans for five-star USC signee Adoree' Jackson once he gets on campus.
"As soon as he walks in the door I'm going to, like, grab him and pull him in my office," Wilcox said, maybe only half-joking.
There could certainly be a tug of war inside the McKay Center between the offensive and defensive coaches for who gets the services of the talented Jackson.
Wilcox, uncertain, deferred any question regarding Jackson to head coach Steve Sarkisian after USC wrapped up spring practice No. 11 Thursday evening.
Sarkisian said at the beginning of fall camp he anticipates Jackson getting reps on both sides of the ball.
"I think he's going to get some of both, quite honestly," Sarkisian said. "I bet he does a couple things on each side of the ball on day one because we need to gather the information."
There are other two-way players who's position was up for debate that Sarkisian addressed on National Signing Day.
He said Long Beach Poly's Juju Smith, Long Beach Cabrillo's Rahshead Johnson, and Crenshaw's Ajene Harris will all start fall camp at wide receiver.
At the time, Sarkisian couldn't make such a statement or any about Jackson because he'd yet to receive his signed National Letter of Intent.
While revisiting the issue on Thursday, Sarkisian said the decision on where to play such players who could contribute on either side of the ball would not be done "on a whim."

"We need to be really structured in how we're doing it and what we're putting on all of their plates mentally and physically so that they can have success," Sarkisian said. "We've traditionally always thrown our freshmen in there Day One with the ones to see how they respond just emotionally -- the guys who have the big eyes and the guys that really love to compete and just feel comfortable and then we start getting information on them."
Jackson was ranked the No. 3 cornerback in the 2014 class by Scout.com.
Last season, while earning California Mr. Football honors, Jackson played running back, lined up at wide receiver, punter, punt returner, and cornerback for Serra high school.
He signed with USC with a buzz around him similar to former Serra star and USC Trojan Robert Woods, although his athleticism has drawn comparisons to that of Marqise Lee.
Like Lee, Jackson played football, basketball, and competed in track and field. This spring he's attempting to jump 27 feet as he eyes the 2016 Rio Games with hopes of competing in the long jump.
