Good ole Shoe.

Following his brilliant performance in the Angels' 1-0 win over the White Sox on Saturday, pitcher Matt Shoemaker was named the American League Player of the Week for the period ending July 17, the league announced on Monday.

Shoemaker threw his first-career complete-game shutout in which he struck out 13 batters and allowed just six hits, with no walks, in Anaheim. The Angels finished off the three-game sweep of Chicago on Sunday.

The 13 Ks were a career high for Shoemaker as well.

The 29-year-old picked up the weekly honors for the first time in his career, and the first time for an Angels pitcher since Jered Weaver in 2012.
