ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals' injury woes continue. The latest addition to the disabled list (15-day) is first baseman Matt Adams, who is dealing with left shoulder inflammation.

Replacing Adams on the 25-man roster is outfielder Randal Grichuk, who has been trying to resurrect his stroke at Triple-A Memphis.

Adams was a late scratch from Wednesday night's lineup because of the shoulder issue, though he hasn't been starting much lately. He is batting .249 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 95 games this season. He has done solid work as a pinch hitter, ranking among the MLB leaders with a .385 pinch-hit average (10 for 26) with two homers and nine RBIs.

Grichuk, 24, is batting .213 with 12 home runs and 35 RBIs in 84 games with St. Louis this season. He has had two stints at Memphis in 2016 (June 18-July 5 and August 2-10), batting .250 with a double, triple and home run in eight games played during his most recent tour.
