Anze Kopitar named NHL's 'Third Star' of Week ending Jan. 17

A good week for Anze Kopitar got even better with the NHL honoring the star center as 'Third Star' of the Week ending Jan. 17.

The week saw Kopitar sign a massive eight-year extension with the Kings and helped Los Angeles (with a goal and an assist) to a 3-2 win over the Ducks on Sunday ... the first Freeway Faceoff matchup of the season.

Kopitar tied for the NHL lead with seven points in three games for the Pacific Division-leading Kings.

The other two 'Stars' were Patrick Kane of Chicago and Sam Bennett of Calgary.

On the season, Kopitar leads the Kings in points (38) and in assists (25).
