Arizona freshman Stanley Johnson declares for NBA draft

Arizona forward Stanley Johnson declared for the NBA Draft on Thursday night.

After one sensational season with the Wildcats, in which he was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Johnson will now head for greener pastures -- greener because of all the money, obviously.

Johnson, a very highly touted prospect coming out of Mater Dei High School in southern California, averaged 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game for Sean Miller's squad.

The freshman forward was a key contributor to the squad that made a run to the Elite Eight as a No. 2 seed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, eventually bowing out to the runner-up, the Wisconsin Badgers.

What's next for Johnson is an NBA Draft that likely will call his name somewhere in the middle of the first round, in the 10-15 range. What makes Johnson such a great prospect is his combination of size and speed. At 6-7, 245 pounds, Johnson can play multiple positions on the offensive end and he can guard multiple positions on the defensive end.

Johnson's game still has a lot of developing to do on both ends of the floor, and a lot of what will make him successful at the next level is the team that drafts him.

The 2015 NBA Draft is set for June 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
