TUCSON, Ariz. -- No. 16 Arizona hopes to have All-American linebacker Scooby Wright back for Saturday's showdown against No. 9 UCLA.

Wright had surgery to repair torn meniscus after injuring his left knee in the first quarter of Arizona's opener against UTSA. He was originally expected to miss three to four weeks, but planned to try practicing this week to see if he can play Saturday.

The Wildcats won their first three games without Wright, but are thin at middle linebacker with Cody Ippolito out for the season and Hayden Gregory expected to miss two to four weeks after injuring his knee against Nevada. Redshirt walk-on freshman Tre Tyler started last week against Northern Arizona.

Wright swept the major defensive player of the year awards as a sophomore last season.
