Arrest made in fatal shooting of Western Michigan student
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) Authorities say they've arrested someone in the fatal shooting of a Western Michigan University student.
The person arrested about 4 p.m. Friday was not identified in the Kalamazoo police's news release, but is ''in custody for open murder, home invasion and armed robbery'' and could be arraigned Monday. A second person is being sought in the case.
Western Michigan athletic director Kathy Beauregard said Friday that a current student-athlete was suspended after police said the athlete was identified as a person of interest in the shooting.
Authorities have not provided the name of the person who has been arrested, nor did they say whether that person or the one being sought are students.
On Thursday, 19-year-old Jacob Ryan Jones was shot and killed at an off-campus apartment.
