Bakersfield cruises past Lumberjacks
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Kevin Mays scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to propel Cal State Bakersfield past Northern Arizona for a 72-55 win Saturday night.
Damiyne Durham added 19 points and Dedrick Basile had 12 for Cal State Bakersfield (4-3), which shot 41 percent from the field to snap its three-game skid. The Roadrunners got 14 assists on their 26 field goals and controlled the boards 46-40.
Cal State Bakersfield took control early, scoring 20 of the game's first 25 points, and carried a 39-25 advantage into the break. The Roadrunners continued to pull away and led by as many 21 points after a Mays' bucket made it 72-51 with 2:24 left.
Northern Arizona (2-6) was held to 28 percent shooting from the field (16 of 57) and had just two assists.
Kris Yanku led the Lumberjacks with 13 points and six rebounds.
